On the afternoon of January 6, 2016, Professor Cheng, a professor from Texas A & M University, gave a lecture to all the students and teachers in the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science. The lecture was on Nanoparticles as Models of Atoms and Building Blockers of Soft Matter. He briefly introduced to them his research orientation and particularly explained the frontier problems in the field of Nanometer Material and Soft Matter. The lecture offered a good chance to the faculty and students to get to know international advanced academic achievements in the field of Material Subject. Shi Chunxiao, Vice President of HUHST, was grateful for Professor Cheng’s arrival at our college from his busy work and wished that he could lead the faculty of the Department to carry out scientific research and promote the development of material science discipline of our university.
Professor Cheng was brought in through the Project of Outstanding Overseas Scholar of Hunan Province in 2015. He was conferred a doctoral degree of Princeton University of America in 1998. He was then up to the postdoctoral study of Nanometer Material and Soft Matter in Harvard University from 2002 to 2004. He published some high-level papers on some world-renowned publications like Nature,Science, Physical Review Letters.
